There was a wave of negative backlash when the Discovery Channel launched "Shark Week" with a FAKE documentary about the Megalodon . . . a huge, 70-foot prehistoric shark.
But apparently, not many people are following through with their threats to BOYCOTT Shark Week . . . because the ratings are THROUGH THE ROOF.
Discovery's late-night talk show "Shark After Dark" attracted 1.9 million viewers Tuesday night, which was enough to beat other, regular late-night cable shows, including "Conan", "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report".
"Shark After Dark" also out-performed those shows on Monday night.
According to Deadline.com, Discovery is also doing well in primetime, and is surpassing a lot of other cable networks in the key demographics . . . but there are no official viewer numbers yet.
