About Adam
Adam Drake, born and raised in southeast Texas, grew up listening to the likes of George Strait, Marshall Tucker Band, Bob Seger, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings. The first concert Adam attended was John Anderson, Travis Tritt, and George Jones. From then on, he knew music was in his blood!
In college, Adam tried to make it at a resteraunt, but after dropping plates and forgetting drink orders, he realized that the food service industry wasn't the way to go, he got a job at KAYD in Beaumont, Texas. There Adam found his true music love. TEXAS COUNTRY! The music of folks like Pat Green, Roger Creager, Kevin Fowler, and Cross Canadian Ragweed spoke to him in ways few artists had before.
Adam then made radio stops in Natchitoches, Louisiana and Lufkin, Texas, while also taking time to serve as Public Relations Director for The Salvation Army in Beaumont. Adam is now back to his first love, radio at Aggie 96! Adam can often be found hanging out at concerts. When not there, he enjoys sports and movies.

WOW! Now that's a lighter! Join Adam Drake for Hornback Humpday's every Wednesday night from 8P-10P! |

Adam's Favorite Teams
Aggie's OF COURSE. Houston Astro's and any team playing the Chicago Cubs Cowboys & Texans.
The only two teams I hope never win another GAME EVER is the Chicago Cubs and the Oklahoma Sooners! I know I should be saying t.u., but I'd much rather see them win than a team from Oklahoma! And I just hate Cubs fans, they are rude and often smell of urine...

VACATION!
Tuesday 07-15-2008 2:57pm CT
So I know I've been back for a few days and have yet to post pictures or anything about my trip. So enough procrastinating, here we go!
Flew out to LA a last week to enjoy some time off. The only thing I really cared about doing was watching a baseball game somewhere other than Houston. I'm an Astros fan through and through, but have always wanted to see a game in a different ballpark.
What a fantastic game I got to see at Dodger Stadium Monday July 7!! It was almost a perfect game! By perfect, I mean the Dodgers pitcher only gave up 1 hit and no other base runners. That was really cool. Probably one of the best games I have ever seen in my life!!
Tuesday is a day spent at the beach. Took the subway all the way down to Long Beach. I've heard some stories about LBC, and thought it'd be a little more crazy than it was. It's actually a whole lot like Kemah, TX. Cool resteraunts, things to do, etc. I happened upon the tv shooting of the show DEXTER. I'd never seen the show, but the set was pretty cool. They had a festival set up as part of the shoot, which kind of excited me thinking I could go hang out at this festival... but NOOO!
Wednesday kind of rounded out the fun portion of the vacation with going to Hollywood. Saw all the names on the Walk of Fame, take some pictures at Graumann's Chinese Theater, and just kind of hung out.
Got back into town on Thursday, but the rest of the week/weekend was a relaxing from the long trip time for me! A vacation is always needed after a vacation!
I fogot my camera and computer cord again today, hope to have some pictures up tonight or tomorrow!
Great Speeches
Tuesday 07-01-2008 10:01pm CT
I was watching TV tonight and noticed that ESPN is promoting the ESPY's. That's their annual awards show that stands for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly. A portion of the proceeds of the ESPY's goes towards the V Foudation for cancer research. The V Foundation was created by former college basketball coach Jim Valvano after he was diagnosed with cancer.
I say all that to say this, one of the greatest and most inspirational speeches given during my generation was the one that Jimmy V gave during the 1993 ESPY awards while accepting the Arthur Ashe Courage and Humanitarian Award. For those of you who have never heard the speech, I strongly encourage that you do so.
Check it out on youtube here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ePXlkqkFH6s
His speech lasts nearly 10 minutes and the people running the show try to cut him off. His trademark sense of humor is kept in tact when he says:
"They got that screen up there flashing 30 seconds, like I care about that screen. I got tumors all over my body and I'm worried about some guy in the back going 30 seconds."
But the part that really gets me everytime is when I hear it is his closing remarks.
"Cancer can take away all of my physical abilities. It cannot touch my mind, it cannot touch my heart, and it cannot touch my soul. And those three things are going to carry on forever. I thank you and God bless you all."
After visiting St. Jude earlier this year and seeing the kids living this way really makes you count your blessings.
So I say all that sappy stuff just to mention that Jimmy V's speech is one of the greatest speeches in my lifetime. I'd like to know what yours is. Were you around when Dr. King spoke about his dream? What were you doing when President Kennedy asked not what this country could do for you? How about something that your HS coach or a teacher or friend said to you?
What is your favorite speech?
"Don't give up, don't ever give up."
